It came to our attention that most articles listing March foods were almost exclusively focusing on what’s relevant to North America.

Now, it might make sense considering these articles are written in English… That being said; a lot of people conduct online research in English, regardless of where they live, because it usually fosters a higher number of results.

So, I felt it was important to put together a March Produce List for each Region of the world 🌍! (in English, obviously.)

As we’ve seen, what is in season in March varies depending on where you are in the world! Be sure to refer to the right list by first looking at a climate map of your country.

For best accuracy, visit a local farmers market and talk to one of the farmers. They will know the March fruits and vegetables that are in season in your area.

What fruit are in season in March?

Temperate Regions: stored apples and pears, greenhouse-grown strawberries.

Tropical Regions: mangoes, papayas, pineapples, avocados, bananas, passionfruit, lychees, dragon fruit, durian, and jackfruit are fresh and in season.

Subtropical Regions: fresh avocados, oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes, tangerines, strawberries, and guavas.

Mediterranean Regions: citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and mandarins.

Arid and Semi-Arid Regions: Dates, figs, and various citrus fruits are available.

Highland Regions: Predominantly stored fruits like apples and pears.

Cold and Polar Regions: Reliance on stored fruits from previous harvests, primarily apples and pears.

What vegetables are in season in March?

Temperate Regions: fresh vegetables include spinach, kale, radishes, arugula, peas, green onions, chard, lettuce, parsnips, and leeks. Greenhouse-grown options might include tomatoes and cucumbers.

Tropical Regions: fresh vegetables include sweet potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, okra, eggplant, and various types of spinach and leafy greens.
